Ceramics studio & workshops

Clay, water, fire and your hands.

A small studio where we make everyday pots and teach anyone who wants to get their hands dirty.

We make Bowl dates — Kaolin Ceramics Studio bowls you'll eat from every day, Cup teal — Kaolin Ceramics Studio cups that fit the hand, and Vase dried — Kaolin Ceramics Studio vases for whatever's in the garden. Slowly, one at a time.

Try it

Throw a pot right here.

Drag on the clay to push the walls in or out, or use the sliders. Pick a glaze, then fire it.

Raw clay · unfired

How a pot is made

Six steps, three weeks.

The whole process →
01

Wedge

Knead the air out of the clay.

02

Throw

Centre, open, pull the walls up.

03

Trim

Turn it over, carve the foot.

04

Dry

Slowly, under plastic, for days.

05

Bisque

A first firing, to make it hard.

06

Glaze & fire

A second, hotter firing: glass.

On the shelf

Workshops

Nobody's first pot is round.

That's the fun of it. Tasters on weekends, a six-week course on Tuesdays, hand-building on Thursdays.
